Immediate volunteer needs:
-
Welcome Committee
- Be a part of the HLAA welcome wagon! Help develop marketing materials, be a greeter during social events, or help us keep in contact with new members.
-
Sponsorship Committee
- Help us reach out to local organizations for sponsorships, in-kind gifts or matching funds. Help develop fundraising events for 2024 or brainstorm how to incorporate large Oklahoma corporations to get involved with our organization.
-
Leadership
- Have you ever served on a civic board? Have you never served on a board? Either way- we need you! Our faithful board members are always looking for new ideas and thoughts to help our chapter grow. Bonus: Our board member retreats are a lot of fun and help sculpt our yearly plans!
-
Membership Committee
- Membership is crucial to sustaining our chapter and growing our powerful group voice throughout Oklahoma. The membership committee needs volunteers to pass out information, meet with audiologists, and of course, recruit new members. If you have the “Gift of Gab” this committee is for you!
-
Students
- Have a family member or friend with Hearing Loss? Have ideas about getting other students involved? Want to understand what volunteering is all about? Want to join the growing number of students world-wide getting involved? Want to complete community service hours? Want to add real experience to your resume? Join us to spread awareness about hearing loss through social media, school presentations, and much more.

Hearing Professionals
- ‘HEAR’ is the Challenge: Ask your office staff to commit to hearing loss in a different way. Many of us have been part of a 9-5 job, but when you add volunteering to the mix, a job often becomes a passion. Encourage your staff to join the HLAA and lead by example! Try a goal of 50% of all staff to join the HLAA. Or ask one staff member monthly to come to a meeting. What about buying $10 memberships to each staff member for the Holidays?!

In the News
- Do you like to write? Do you have hearing loss stories from good or bad experiences in Oklahoma? We need your stories! For example: Have you ever struggled to hear in a hospital or restaurant? Have you experienced dangerous levels of sound at concerts or sporting events? Do you love your new implant or hearing aid? Have you been disappointed with customer service because of your hearing loss? Have you struggled at work, or church or in school? Have you found an audiologist who you love? Sharing these experiences is vital to breaking the stigma of hearing loss and improving hearing access for all of us.
